1 April 2010 No Comment

Hi. My name is Emma Parr and I have recently taken on the role of co-ordinating the work of Uniting Church Scripture (Special Religious Education) teachers in Government Schools in NSW & ACT. I am also responsible for co-ordinating the Child Protection requirements for volunteers within Congregations. My background is in youth ministry and I have experience teaching SRE in the classroom.  I am passionate about ministry with people in the first third of life, particularly multi-generational ministry and helping prepare and support leaders in ministry with young people. I have enjoyed being an active leader in youth and children’s ministry since I was in high school myself and I have since completed studies in education and theology through Charles Sturt University/United Theological College. I am currently involved in both congregational and presbytery youth work in Sydney North & Kur-ring-gai presbyteries through the SNaK youth project, and attend Burwood Uniting Church where I am an active member of the evening congregation.

I am excited about helping people to be prepared and resourced for SRE teaching and helping ensure that our young people can learn and grow in a safe ministry environment.

If you have any questions about SRE or Child Protection for volunteers, please feel free to contact me at the Board of Education (email: emmap@nsw.uca.org.au ; phone 8267 4290).
