Seasons of the Spirit
Seasons of the Spirit supports local churches with resources for an integrated program of worship, education and service.
Seasons of the Spirit is unique - it’s a resource for the whole congregation. The lectionary passages of the bible and rhythms of the church year provide the basis for learning, worship, and service. The theme of the day resounds in music, visuals, sermon, banners, vestments, story, liturgy and ritual.
Seasons of the Spirit moves Sunday school into a different realm where teachers become facilitators rather than fonts of all knowledge and children are enabled to turn a dusty world of ancient stories into one that is refreshingly dynamic and relevant to today’s experiences.” ( Seasons of the Spirit test church)
The vision of Seasons of the Spirit is : To provide God’s people with resources that empower all ages to be transformed in Christ as they
- explore the meaning and mystery in the Bible
- celebrate in worship, sacraments, education, and service
- engage in ministries of love, justice, and witness
- live in inclusive communities of faith – shaped and led by the Holy Spirit
Seasons of the Spirit follows the rhythm of Jesus’ life – the church year – and a three year cycle of Bible readings from the Revised Common Lectionary. Staff from the Board of Education are available to talk with your congregation about how you work with Seasons of the Spirit, and to train leaders in its use.
