Thinking e-safety

19 January 2016 No Comment

social media esafetyWe hear too many stories of children who have been scared and made more vulnerable by Cyber-bullying or other misuse of social media.

The good news is that something is been done to help! The Australian Government has been working at how to make the online world safer for kids – just check out what has been achieved in just 6 months by the Office of the Children’s esafety Commissioner!

One thing you’ll note is not only is preventative actions important but good responses if something goes pear shaped. Making sure kids know that if something makes them uncomfortable they can talk to a trusted adult, or phone the kids helpline (Freecall 1800 55 1800) to talk to someone about any problem any time is essential!

There are also more resources for helping you talk to young people about e-safety on the Office of the Children’s esafety Commissioner website and YouTube channel.
